GTA 4 Censored in This Backwards-Ass Country

Yep, that’s right folks. The one thing that we’ve all been fearing has indeed been realised: GTA IV has officially been censored in Australia…
Rockstar Games has today confirmed that the version of Grand Theft Auto IV which will go on sale in Australia will not be the same version which gamers in other countries will be unwrapping later in the day. Speaking to The Age, a representative for Rockstar Games confirmed that a “special verison” of the game was submitted for rating by the Office of Film and Literature Classification, who subsequently awarded an MA 15+ rating. Quite what content will be missing from the game was not disclosed, but earlier this week a BBFC report indicated the game contains intense sexual content.
Our only hope now is that Take2 allow the game to be region free. Please, please, please Take 2: you must allow this game to be region free.

And this is a problem because? All the previous GTA titles have been edited for us Aussies.
Vice City was the only copy of GTA censored before release in Australia. San Andreas was, but that was after the hot coffee mod scandal broke.
The main argument here is that Australia should have an R18+ rating so that we don’t have to suffer this, where was can play a game the way it was meant to be played.
Look at not only GTA, but Ninja Gaiden, Soldier of Fortune and Dark Sector (to name a few), all have been significantly edited to pass the OFLC ratings as a MA 15+ title when they shouldn’t have to.
Its a problem because all the people i know downloaded the US versions of these games i actually want to buy Legit but AUS isn’t helping me change my mind!

If you want a legit version of the game that is uncensored mate you can import a copy from NZ, they have an R18+ rating for games.
Yeah SA wasnt censored.
Anyway keep an eye on play-asia for region free status and if that fails hit NZ like Dimorphic said… gpstore.co.nz

lol imagine the game comes out, then after a couple of weeks, the Australian government actually allows R18+ games, then an uncut version of GTA IV comes out, then I’ll be pissed off!!! im still getting this game from Australia. It would have been better if i or anybody else had never read that gta iv is gonna be censored so we stop worrying about it, and keep thinking that the Australian version will be censored. but like i said, maybe they just took out something like masturbation in the game. i hope its something small!
yer its bull (i complained nd good) i am getting the edition from aus because i pre ordered the spec edition and want all the other goodies but i most probably get an import as well just to make sure im not missing out.
but how gay is it that if we want the uncensored version we have to dlowad illegally or buy an import!

Thanks freedom. Your link to the classification board complaint form prompted me to actually send a complaint. Something I may not have done otherwise. Here’s what I said…
“I wish to express my disappointment at learning that the soon to be released computer game “Grand Theft Auto IV”, published by Take 2 Interactive, has been forced to comply with your restrictive classification system by offering a censored version of their product.
Its my understanding that the highest classification rating available for computer games is MA 15+, which the uncensored version of their product failed to qualify for.
Why must I, a 30 year old adult, be forced to consume a crippled version of a product that the rest of the world will be able to enjoy as the creators intended?”

You cannot get an uncensored version from NZ. I have only just found out that because of the Aussi censor A-Holes that NZ now gets your restricted and censored copy! Take 2…come on - what a bunch of horse sh.t.
uk are PAL as we are.their uncut version will work for your aus 360.ebay it poeple. however i dont know if this will effect downloadable content.i sure hope not
Get a ps3 and import one from the USA

Well the ntsc/j version of GTA4 on 360 is compatible with PAL too…. however PlayAsia is currently on back order.
Also the UK PAL version is only about $70 if ordered online.
